Brighton Zinefest 2010

Today I will be attending and taking part in this event for the 1st time, hopefully I can get there and back without an epic journey and story to tell. I still need to blog about last weeks Alternative Press fair. Watch this space.

Alternative Press go to Angoulême

The other members of Alternative Press just recently came back from Angoulême and had a great time. I couldn't go myself, but here is a link to an interview by Ellen Linder which took place at the event in France.

Shout out on the Forbidden Planet Blog

I felt really honoured to find out recently that the very talented Richard Cowdry gave me a mention in his interview on the Forbidden Planet Blog under the title of who to watch out for this year. I better not disappoint.

Here is what he said: "Saban Kazim, who is a guy from the UK small press scene. I especially like his slice of life pieces. He has these autobiographical stories which he works into stand up comedy sketches, and then makes into comics. His strips are really funny. Check out his story in the Alternative Press “Publish You” book."

Alternative Press Fair 2010

It's been a while since I updated my blog, been really busy. Happy New Year.

A day of zines, comix, poetry, radical literature, printmaking and anything else self-published! Then from 6pm there will be a birthday party to celebrate our 1st year - with music, spoken work, DJ's and open mic. So come along and be a part of the day.

The Lik & Neon shop is now stocking some of my stuff

I was in the Lik & Neon shop today near Bricklane. A really cool little shop which sells loads comics, zines, magazines, t-shirts and lots of other home made crafty things like jewellery. The nice lady that runs the shop along with the help of her assistant and 3 cats decided they liked my stuff and have decided to stock some of my things like comics and t-shirts etc. Hopefully some of my stuff will sell. The Late Late Breakfast Show Friday the 13th

Friday the 13th is meant to be an unlucky day, but it was really lucky for me. I got take part on Tracey Moberly's show broadcast live from the Foundry on Resonance 104.4fm. It was a proper random panel of interesting people including a radical priest who set up Housmans radical book sellers (Their having their 50th anniversary celebration tomorrow night), Viv Albertine from The Slits and John Sinclair, can't remember the other people's names. I talked about the zine friendly event, zines/comics and a bit about the Alternative Press. It was my 1st time ever on a live radio show and was kind of nervous, but it was good fun and got to hang out with all the people evolved over some lunch. So I had a proper random, but fun day. Many thanks to everyone at the Foundry.

Are you zine friendly? Blog launch night/Party Thursday 12th November 2009

I'm going to be helping out and probably taking loads of pics.

Here is a brief summary about the event: "Alternative Press are hosting another awesome evening of Zines, comix, book arts and poetry at our second Zine Friendly event at the foundry, in order to promote our new project, the Zine Friendly Blog! A resource for Self Publishers far and wide, we will be listing venues, promoters, stockists and events that are all “Zine Friendly”!" "

We’ll be having a cake sale with free tea, Knitting circle, CD compilation lucky dip (just bring a cd of your own favourite music and take your pick!), free blank zines for you to use and a poetry workshop followed by some performances and a short open mic…"

Starts 7pm until around 11pm.
